Skywatcher Program

This program has our largest number of participants ranging from 15 to 30 kids, between the ages of 9 and 16 years old. The curriculum is designed around the armor of God and uses projects to teach life skills that produce positive life habits that will benefit the young men and their families. There are outposts and several camping trips with this ministry.

This program meets on Tuesday evenings during the school year (September - May), between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm.

Your donations to Pathfinder Farms helps to support programs such as Skywatchers.  We NEVER charge any of the families and young men we have in this program.  Donations help to support this program, allowing us to purchase the supplies needed for activities and all operational costs associated with Pathfinder Farms.

The big weekend for all the Skywatcher kids had some pretty soggy moments, overall, it was a great experience. I believe it rained every day, several times it was fairly hard. I don’t ‘t remember anyone complaining the whole weekend. Great bunch of young men!
Obviously we had some great volunteers that fed the kids and did their best to keep them safe and warm.
Our special guest speaker Brigadier General Robert Hall, and he did a great job of speaking and telling the stories of his life. He and his wife Melissa flew in from Alaska to spend some time with the Skywatcher troops.
We also had a visit from him at our Tuesday night program. He took a tour of the facilities and got to watch the boys work with some equipment that needed to be cleaned and put away.

Many thanks to everyone that helped make this a successful weekend.

2nd Annual pinewood Derby at Pathfinder Farms

It seems like I say this a lot, but this was a really good day!

We had best design and best decorated cars that were just awesome!  Then we also had fastest female car and male car. Time for where every competitive.

Track worked excellent and the kids were just fabulous today. They all behaved with humility and grace and showed excellent sportsmanship.

I was super happy with all our volunteers that helped today. They took ownership of whatever job they were given and completed it with results that I could not have done better myself. These people love kids, and it shows!

Today was about having fun and taking pride in something you built. But there was so much fellowship between the volunteers, kids and parents, I know relationships were moved to the next level today.

At the end of day, all the Glory goes to our Father who made it all possible, what a great dad!

The guys did a great job with our opening ceremony.
We used relay tag for the warmup activity. Then we had to split the guys up so we could get our cars finished for this weekend's Pinewood Derby race. So, half of them went to the Bible study and the other half to the wood shop. The end of the night all but two or three cars are finished, and they will be taking care of before Saturday. everyone I think is looking forward to the race day activities.

25 to 30 minutes before start time, we have young men showing up just to spend more time interacting with the initial games. That's an awesome feeling to have young guys show up early.

At 6:00 we have the opening ceremony. We start with announcements and our three pledges. Pledge to the Bible, Christian flag, and the United States flag.

Normally we start out with some light stretching and an activity game before going to the Woodshop and bible study. This week we separated the young men by age. Half went to the Woodshop other half to the Bible study. Halfway through we switched the guys.

The bible study this week was reviewing 1st Corinthians 11:1, Proverbs 20:7, and Daniel 1:8.

We finish up with closing ceremonies and prayer. And then they are all welcome to play until their parents pick them up.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, that is not on our minds when we have this many young people around. I will try to do better.
